Nottingham
Nottinghams regeneration plans moved forward when city leaders gave
outline planning permission for the £390m scheme lead by English Partnerships,
the governments national regeneration agency and ISIS Waterside Regeneration.
Outline planning has been granted for the Trent Basin scheme, location between
Nottingham Canal to the west, and the racecourse to the east. The development
is set to transform one of the citys most rundown areas into a modern
riverside community, with flats and houses, offices, shops, bars, restaurants
and waterside facilities.
Work on phase one of Trent Basin is expected to begin in 2008 and
is expected to take around two years to complete.
The scheme will see developer, ISIS Waterside Regeneration, working alongside
English Partnerships to create a new 28-acre waterfront housing district,
together with a new riverside promenade, boater facilities, shops, a community
centre and recreation spaces. Both organisations are the main land owners
at the site.
Trent Basin has been backed by Nottingham Waterside Ltd a partnership
between British Waterways, Nottingham City Council and emda. |

Birmingham
Plans for the second and final phase of a £25m redevelopment scheme
within Birminghams core business area have been passed by the citys
planners.
Nurton Developers will move ahead with their proposals to transform Priory
House in even more dynamic fashion. The design for the property includes
a futuristic, glazed entrance, projecting from the new façade, 40,000
sq ft penthouse office accommodation, and rationalised basement parking.
The planning application has been approved by Birmingham City Councils
Planning Committee, and work is expected to start on site soon and be completed
before Christmas 2008. The main contractor is Ashford Construction, who
oversaw the refurbishment of Cannon House.
Priory House sits on the western edge of the Steelhouse Lane Conservation
Area, on the corner of Colmore Square and Priory Queensway. |
