Auctions News and Deals

Milton Keynes
Bidding for lot one at a recent property auction at the Holiday Inn, Newport Pagnell, had the entire room on the edge of their seats. In a frenzy of bidding, Robinson and Hall’s specialist auctioneer, David Jones took the empty 0.51 ha (1.26 acre), Bedfordshire plot from its guide price of £10,000 to £68,000.
The small plot on the edge of Tempsford, near Sandy, was surplus to the owner’s requirements.
The land had not been marketed before and local residents were concerned about its potential future uses.

Robinson and Hall advised property consultants from Gerald Eve to go straight to auction, as they were confident that they could attract the appropriate audience.
Each bid increased the price by £1,000. Before long, many prospects had dropped out, and as the bidding battle was reduced to a handful of people, the intensity increased.
Other lots to come under the hammer included a workshop in Kempston at £56,000, a small parcel of land in one of Kempston’s residential areas at £30,000, and flat in Stevenage at £104,000.
