Charity trek |
Happily
the school whose headmaster is funded by this charity reports all is calm
just now; but this unrest emphasises the continual need to assist. Philip says: The good thing about The Romilly Forshall Foundation is that over 95p in the pound raised goes to the people on the ground thanks to the allegiance of the Trustees and what is more each pound goes a very long way for example a typical salary might be around £1,000. The walk will be with a difference as Philip will use his amateur painting skills to record the streets, the hills and the people of Spain and France as he works his way north. I will paint my way around Spain and France with postcard-sized clips of the journey and I aim to have each painting sponsored and exhibited in the Somerset Art Weeks display in my Somerset studio this September. Any sales achieved will then go to The Romilly Foundation (in addition to any sponsors contribution made before) and he is expecting some friends to join him on the route. Arriving by train and starting just north of Gibraltar on the 5th April he will take in Andalucia and Seville, the sierra Gregos to the west of Madrid, the pilgrims way to Santiago the Pyrenees and the massif central in France. He will finish by walking up the beautiful Culm Valley to his home in Somerset. |
