Covering
Letters
|
|||||||
| Now
your CV is completed you must get an employer to read it. A covering letter
can be more important than a CV as this is the first thing an employer
will see from you. A good covering letter will get your CV read and put
you on course for an interview, a bad covering letter will put you on
course for the bin. Always make sure that your covering letter is addressed to the right person. If you don't know who they are then make a phone call and find out, it will make a lot of difference. Keep the letter short and concise; give them a reason to see you. Make the letter specific to the job you are applying for. Use some of the key terms and requirements set out in the advert to highlight your skills and show a close match between you and the job. DON'T repeat your CV, if you have done a good job on the letter they will read it anyway. Read over your letter for any spelling or grammatical errors and ask a friend for their opinion. Remember this is business so be professional. |
