Turn your back on it

Ever notice how when you feel particularly strained or stressed, you get that dull ache across your shoulders and down your back? Your posture has a lot to do with it, and you can ease the strain on your back by ensuring that you do the following:

a) Make sure that your back is straight at all times.
b) If you have to lift a heavy object, keep your back straight, transferring the weight to your thighs and arms.
c) Keep supple by getting up frequently for short periods of time to stretch strained muscles.
d) Make sure that your worktops are at a comfortable and accessible height to avoid strain.
e) Keep your back supported properly when you're seated.
