Derby’s £2bn city centre masterplan moved a step nearer as almost £50m of investment schemes received planning permission.
This now means there are £500m of projects in Derby’s pipeline following the successful opening of Westfield’s £340m retail and leisure centre in late 2007.
Wilson Bowden's £30m Number One Cathedral Green development and the first phase of developer Blueprint's £16m Bold Lane scheme have just received planning consent.
The landmark Cathedral Green mixed-use scheme will offer 100,000 sq ft of grade A office accommodation, 125 apartments on the banks of the River Derwent adjacent to a Unesco World Heritage Site – previous objections from the Environment Agency having been dropped.
Bold Lane scheme is a £16m mixed-use scheme by development organisation Blueprint incorporating 40,000 sq ft of offices, 25 apartments and 7 retail units designed by award winning architects Ash Sakola – this overcame objections from English Heritage. There will be roof gardens and open squares to complement the development in the heart of Derby’s emerging Cathedral Quarter..
