Blueprint plan second science park building21st April 2012

Sustainable regeneration developer Blueprint has announced it is exploring designs for a second iconic, low energy office building in Nottingham after its Science Park was included in the city’s Enterprise Zone.

The developer has won numerous national and regional awards for No.1 Nottingham Science Park and says the announcement is a catalyst for further investment.

The six-acre Science Park site joins the Boots campus, Beeston Business Park, and land at Queen’s Medical Centre in the extended Nottingham Enterprise Zone, which aims to stimulate economic activity.

The whole zone now covers 140 acres (56.5 hectares), offering new companies that move there business rate relief of up to £275,000 over five years, working out as around £55,000 a year.

Blueprint Development Director John Long said the announcement would boost development on the Nottingham Science Park land.
He says: “The Enterprise Zone will be a catalyst for our development plans for a successor building to the very successful No.1 Nottingham Science Park.  It will help us target more high-tech companies for the city and provide much needed, high quality, sustainable business space for home-grown Nottingham companies and inward investors alike.

“We’ve worked hard at Nottingham Science Park to develop a community of genuinely leading edge innovators – some of the best in the region. It’s clear that there is a need for this type of workspace, and the extended Enterprise Zone opens up even more possibilities.

“It’s good for the park, but more importantly it’s good for Nottingham. These businesses are creating sustainable, high quality jobs in large numbers.”
