New lease of life for Solihull Heights7th May 2012

Solihull Heights, Sheldon

Locksbridge Developments has given a new lease of life to a failed apartment scheme in Sheldon. The well-known Horizon development on the New Coventry Road was abandoned part of the way through construction in 2008 when the former developer White Fire went into administration.

London based Locksbridge Developments, which is owned by Sheikh Holdings, started work on site last September and will launch the new scheme of 146 apartments known as Solihull Heights, over the weekend of 11 and 12 May.

Local contractor Mayfair Construction is building the two-phase development, which will take 18 months to complete, with the first phase of 46 studio, one bed and two bed apartments due to be ready by July.

MD Akbar Sheikh said: “We are delighted to have brought this important local scheme back to the market and to have re-employed some of the local businesses that were involved in the original project, such as Coventry based architects idp Midlands and civil and structural engineering consultancy Couch Consulting.”

The development has the backing of the local MP John Hemming and the Minister for Housing and Local Government, Grant Shapps.

Solihull Heights is the first project in Locksbridge Developments' proposed £125m residential programme.
