Turley Associates delivers new distribution centre for Parcelforce and Evander Properties14th May 2012

Revolution Park

Planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates has secured planning permission for a major new distribution and industrial development on a 10 hectare site at Buckshaw Village, Chorley on behalf of developer Evander Properties.

Permission was granted for two separate industrial/distribution buildings at The Revolution industrial and logistics park by Chorley Borough Council on 24 April. Buckshaw Village is a successful development with over 200 hectares of mixed use projects, including 2,000 new homes, retail and leisure facilities, employment development and a new railway station.

Parcelforce Worldwide, part of the Royal Mail Group, is to take one of the buildings to provide a new 11,500 sq m distribution facility serving the north of England and Scotland, creating 267 new jobs. The first phase of this building is expected to be completed by September 2013. The second building, which is yet to be let, is estimated to create a further 150 jobs.

Andrew Bickerdike, a senior planner in Turley Associates’ Manchester office, said: “This is a significant planning permission for Evander Properties and Buckshaw Village, delivering high quality employment accommodation and providing a significant jobs boost to the town. The original planning application was made in September 2011 and has been amended to reflect Parcelforce’s accommodation requirements in order to bring this major new employer to Chorley.”
