The property market in Newport city centre could be improving following the freehold sale of a property in the heart of the city’s Gold Tops business district.
Offering around 1,800 sq ft, Goldfields House, 18A Gold Tops - also prominently visible on Fields Road - has been sold to a local investor for £230,000.
The former Ranstad Recruitment agency building, which has a total of 11 rooms as well as ancillary space, will now be the subject of a total refurbishment.
David Jones, of selling agents Hutchings & Thomas, said: “The sale of this important building in Gold Tops, the city’s commercial district, is a sign that at long last the market may be shifting for the better.
“Even with its central location, Gold Tops offers easy access to the motorway and rail networks. The fact that movement is now happening in this business district augurs well for the future.
“Refurbishment of this building to a headquarters style property will add further to the improved stock in Gold Tops and will give a lift not just to this part of the city but to Newport as a whole.
“There are other recent, prime examples of stock being upgraded in the Gold Tops area namely the Medinet building and also the recently renovated offices of law firm Everett ,Tomlin, Lloyd & Pratt.”
