Osborne triumph in Three Peaks Challenge5th June 2012

Team Osborne complete Three Peak Challenge
A team of staff from family owned construction firm Osborne have completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for a humanitarian charity.

Staff from the firm, whose head office is in Reigate, finished the event in a time of 22 hours and 38 minutes, finishing the last leg of the challenge in the afternoon of Sunday 13 May.

The team raised more than £3,500 for the humanitarian charity the COINS Foundation, which builds schools, hospitals and homes in sub-Saharan Africa; Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

The challenge involves climbing the UK’s highest mountains – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon – in less than 24 hours, a task made all the more difficult by the fact that the 24 hour time limit includes travelling between the three mountains.

Andrew Osborne, Osborne Deputy Chairman, said: “The COINS Foundation does tremendously important work in areas that badly need support building new homes, schools and community facilities. We’re delighted to support the work of an organisation like this, and really proud to have been the longest supporter of the COINS Three Peaks Challenge. Well done to everyone who completed the event.”

The COINS 3 Peaks Challenge began in 2003 as a result of COINS chairman Larry Sullivan's desire to bring the construction industry together to help those less fortunate throughout the world. Since its launch, more than 3,000 people have taken part in the event, helping to raise more than £2million for the charity.
