Tuffin Ferraby Taylor Birmingham Comment: Markit/CIPS survey16th June 2012

James Bent, partner and head of Tuffin Ferraby Taylor’s (TFT’s) Birmingham office said in response to the Markit/CIPS survey, which revealed growth in UK construction activity hit a three-month low in May:

“While stated figures show a fall in new construction, we are seeing healthy refurbishment activity levels in the in retail, industrial and office sectors in and around Birmingham with a good pipeline workload for next 6 to 9 months.

“Increased levels of refurbishment are due to clients – mainly in the private sector - looking to add value to their buildings, making the most of existing assets by up-cycling to remove building obsolescence and improve sustainability.”
