Alex Reid, Director at Loughborough-based Mather Jamie had this to say about the use of social media in commercial property marketing:
“The use of social media channels in the commercial property sector has certainly lagged behind other industries but it’s something we have noticed growing in recent months.
“Here at Mather Jamie we have embraced both Twitter (@matherjamie) and YouTube (www.youtube.com/matherjamie) and find both are useful resources to help market our available commercial units for sale or rent and establish our brand position.
“Twitter in particular is valuable not just for updating our followers on our latest deals or providing links to press coverage in the local media, but also to keep an eye on what else is happening in the industry and in the local area.
“Our YouTube videos, which have had over 700 views so far, provide interested parties with the opportunity to take a look round key aspects of each available property and to find out the main specification details for each such as location, car parking, square footage and agent contact information.
“While potential occupiers will still pick up the phone to us to make an appointment, we have found that many will try and do their research first. Therefore having this information available for them saves them time and effort while also allowing us to advertise our clients’ properties in greater detail.
“The use of Twitter and YouTube adds to our existing comprehensive marketing mix and the feedback we’ve received from clients, occupiers and other colleagues in the sector has also been extremely positive.”
