Deloitte gives royal preview of Dorchester Sports Centre3rd July 2012

Drivers Jonas Deloitte, project managers on the Dorchester Sports Centre, gave HRH The Prince of Wales a private viewing of the building, which is due to be completed in a few weeks time. The sports centre sits on land belonging to the Duchy of Cornwall and is being delivered by Dorset District Council and Dorset County Council.

Drivers Jonas Deloitte, along with contractor Leadbitter and proposed operator 1610, gave His Royal Highness a guided tour of the building. The Prince was accompanied by his architect, Ben Pentreath, who worked closely with Deloitte to finalise the design of the building. The team talked to the Prince of Wales about the health and fitness industry and the challenges of the project.

The leisure centre, which is the ninth such facility completed by the Drivers Jonas Deloitte Sports team, comprises a 6 25m lane swimming pool, a learner pool, pool spectator viewing, a fitness suite, dance studio, changing rooms and a Changing Places facility.

Peter Curtis, a Director at Drivers Jonas Deloitte, who managed the project said: “This has been one of the most challenging projects we have completed and we are delighted the Prince of Wales was able to take time out to visit. We have consulted with a number of stakeholders, including the Duchy of Cornwall, to ensure as many people as possible were able to input into the design of this sensitive site.”
