St Modwen gets permission to build residential development at Coalville20th July 2012

UK developer St. Modwen has been granted planning permission for a residential development on land it owns off Ravenstone Road/Coalville Lane, Coalville.

Councillors at North West Leicestershire District Council have given the go-ahead to the development, which features up to 190 high quality homes, including affordable housing, along with new recreational space with children’s play area, footpath, cycleways and extensive landscaping. The 17 acre site development seeks to respond to the recognised housing land supply shortage in North West Leicestershire District.

The development focuses upon the provision of family homes and in response to local views provides a new children’s play area in a central recreational space. The majority of trees along the site frontage to Ravenstone Road will be retained and a new belt of landscaping will be planted along the site’s boundaries to ensure the site is contained by attractive landscaping. The scheme will be making contributions to local services and facilities where deficiencies exist, including primary education.

Jonathan Green, Development Surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We have worked closely with officers at North West Leicestershire District Council to develop this application and we are pleased permission has been granted.

“This is a sustainable, high quality family housing scheme that will help address the shortage of housing in the District.”
