New contract wins lead to further recruitment at Cushman & Wakefield Birmingham18th September 2012

The asset management arm of Cushman & Wakefield has recruited new staff on the back of two major contract wins, in a further expansion boost at the firm’s Birmingham office.

The contracts are with the Crown Estate, and American property giant Westbrook Partners. Both are to manage key property portfolios and have meant Cushman & Wakefield has created more jobs in Birmingham.

The prestigious Crown Estate contract is to provide property management services for the organisation’s £1.5 bn regional portfolio, which totals 40 properties across the country. Of these, approximately half are to be managed from Cushman & Wakefield’s Birmingham office.

Two of the most notable Crown Estate properties in Birmingham are Attwood House, in New Street, and 43 Temple Row, the first of which is a number of retail units, let to Adidas, Aston Villa, RBS and others, and the latter is office accommodation.

For Westbrook, Cushman & Wakefield has taken over a mixed-use regional portfolio of nine properties, totalling 750,000 sq ft. Among them is a major industrial scheme in Burton, The Duke.

Leading the Cushman & Wakefield Birmingham team will be associate partner Jonathan Aspinall, who is already responsible for the management for several high profile city centre office and retail properties in Birmingham.

Aspinall said: “Both these contracts are significant and we would hope they help boost the performance of the various assets included in the portfolios.

“I will be assisted by senior surveyor Vicky Goodwin in managing these portfolios, and we have also recruited other new staff in Birmingham to help achieve our aims.”

Joining Jonathan’s team are surveyor James Drew, and Nic Bateman, who is the team’s personal assistant.

James has more than five years commercial practise experience, and previously was a member of the corporate real estate team at BNP Paribas Real Estate. He has experience of handling a number of blue chip clients, including Sainsbury’s and Rolls Royce.

Nic has worked for a number of property firms in the region, including Lambert Smith Hampton and GVA.
