Raynsway crowned Regional Commercial Developer of the Year at Insider East Midlands Property Dinner 1st October 2012

Raynsway Properties has been named winner at Insider East Midlands Property Dinner, which saw over 400 industry professionals gather at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on 27 September.

Originally established by Charlie Rayns in the 1970s, Raynsway owns and manages the Watermead Business Park in Syston, a portfolio of office and industrial premises totally some 500,000 sq ft in Thurmaston and Leicester Marina, adjacent to Watermead Country Park, was recognised for a number of achievements.

These include its work on recent projects with the UK’s first carbon neutral PassivHaus office with Interserve, which itself was named Sustainable Development of the Year at the same awards and the new Dunelm head office at Watermead Business park, its local community work and plans for future phases of its portfolio designed to bring more business to the north of Leicester and create jobs.

Tom Watkinson, Managing Director at Raynsway Properties, said: “We are thrilled to be named Commercial Developer of the Year at this prestigious regional awards evening. To be recognised for your achievements within the industry is fantastic and a real feather in our cap.

“We have always tried to operate a sustainable business model and feel this is now really coming to fruition. The fact we have been willing to undertake groundbreaking projects such as the PassivHaus office at Watermead Business Park, work with big local success stories such as Dunelm with their new head office, that our business and industrial units in Thurmaston are full to capacity and we are enjoying increased interest in the moorings at Leicester Marina, has certainly put us in good stead and shows we are obviously doing something right as a firm, which is extremely pleasing.”

“For the Interserve PassivHaus office to be named Sustainable Development of the Year was really icing on the cake for us. The judges said it was a hands down winner for setting new green standards nationally and also commented that the property sector needs more brave and innovative projects like this to take the whole industry forward. For this to be happening right here in Leicester is fantastic for the city.”
