Barratt Northampton welcomes new Real Estate graduate20th November 2012

Rebecca Smith has joined Barratt Northampton on its two year Graduate Development Programme.

Rebecca, who moved to Northampton earlier this year, has a degree in Business and Public Relations as well as a Masters in Real Estate. She joins the team on the graduate scheme after working as a Residential Lettings Office Manager for nearly a year.

The two year scheme has been designed to give graduates the best possible view of all aspects of the housebuilding business. The first year is spent on two month rotations between the Land, Construction, Technical, Commercial, Finance and Sales departments. The second year will then be spent within one specialist department.

Rebecca, aged 25 said "Initially I gained a degree in Business and Public Relations but my interest in housebuilding came after I worked in an estate agents after university - so I decided to go back to study for an MA in Real Estate.

"With this scheme I'm able to get a deep understanding of each department and the role it plays in providing our customers with great places to live.

"So far I've been working in the Land department where I've gained experience on sourcing land, undertaking land viabilities and bidding for sites. Hopefully, I will be able to follow the progress of recently secured sites as I pass through the rest of my rotations.

"There's a lot of learning involved and because the scheme is very structured I've been receiving a lot of help and support from everyone."

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barratt so far and I'm very proud to work for the five star housebuilder. My ambition is to secure a sales position with Barratt and I know that with the support and guidance given to me on the scheme that this is possible."

Andrew Swindell, Managing Director for Barratt Northampton, said "It's fantastic to announce that we have appointed Rebecca, she brings fresh ideas to the table with enthusiasm and dedication and has already proven herself as a great asset to our division.

"This scheme is easily the biggest of its kind in the industry and demonstrates our commitment to developing the talent of the future. Through good people we are better able to focus on what we do best: building great homes for our customers - the core of our future success and we are delighted to be able to make Rebecca a part of that."
