Innes England celebrates APC graduate surveyor successes20th November 2012

Innes England is celebrating the success of graduate surveyors Ben Meynell and Giles Davis, who have become members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Both Ben and Giles have achieved first time passes in the Assessment of Professional Competence to become elected members of the RICS, which consists of a two to three year period of structured training.

These are the latest successes for Innes England’s RICS accredited training programme, which runs across the firms three regional offices in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. The firm currently has five students on its programme, two of whom are from Innes England and the remaining students are from the firms’ clients including Sladen Estates and the Money Shop.

The property agency has been running its APC programme for over ten years and supports its candidates throughout their studies focusing on a variety of topics such as valuation, property management and professional standards. During the course of the past two years, the firm has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in its APC, with four Innes England candidates having passed their interviews first time.

Ben said: “Throughout my two years of training I have attended a monthly APC meeting and in the run up to the APC we were given a number of mock interviews, which helped to build up to the big day.

“I feel that working in the retail department has been very beneficial given the hands on approach I was allowed to take, which gave me a broad range of experience. I feel a small firm allows you to really get stuck into the work whereas in a larger corporate you may be merely a small cog in a large machine. I am now looking forward to progressing my career.”

Giles said: “I am delighted to have passed my APC first time. I have really benefitted from the support, which Innes England has provided through its monthly meetings and revision sessions. I feel that this helped me to fully prepare me and I am now looking forward to working with the firm as a qualified chartered surveyor.”

Robert Hartley, managing director of Innes England said: “We strongly believe in nurturing home grown talent and I’m delighted for both Ben and Giles in achieving a first time pass. We are proud of our APC training programme and feel that by supporting our trainees throughout the learning process, they acquire a great deal of confidence which prepares them for when they qualify.”
