Urban Splash's Tom Bloxham to turn comedian in aid of charity6th June 2013

Tom Bloxham MBE, chairman and co-founder of Urban Splash, will be raising money for charity when he takes to the stage later this year, in a bid to bring hilarity to a room full of Mancunians.

Tom is joining a group of North West business people to take part in a fundraising event, Funny Business, which is spearheaded by Deloitte UK managing partner and Prostate Cancer UK trustee Sharon Thorne, and The Christie CEO Caroline Shaw. Funny Business is set to take place on the 2 October at the Comedy Store in Manchester and will be dividing the proceeds between both charities.

Funny Business will see Tom appearing on the same bill as Sharon and Caroline, as well as Elaine Birchall of PZ Cussons, DX Group CEO Petar Cvetkovic, founder of Chess Telecom David Pollock and senior independent director of Fenner Plc Vanda Murray.

Participants will be teamed up with a professional comedian to help mentor and prepare them for the event over the coming months, with names like Alex Boardman, Mick Ferry, Smug Roberts and John Cooper lined up to assist. However, on the night each performer will appear solo, with just a four-minute slot to impress the audience.

Tom said: “I love a challenge, but trying to make a room full of strangers laugh is pushing that to a whole new level. We’re raising money for two very good causes, so my hope is that the audience will at least be sympathetic if we are not quite up to a professional standard!”

Donations to each individual participant can be given through the Funny Business event website at www.funnybusinessnw.co.uk and tickets can be reserved by contacting MC2 on 0161 2361352. Please tweet about the event using @funnybusinessnw
