Jones Lang LaSalle secures outline planning consent for former Exeter School House12th June 2013

Jones Lang LaSalle has secured outline consent for the redevelopment of the former School House on Millbrook Lane.

The School House site is currently owned by the St Loye’s Foundation and is located in one of the prime areas of Exeter along Topsham Road. The site has been standing empty for almost five years but now has consent for a residential scheme comprising five secluded dwellings, ranging from three bed to five bed units.

In 2008, the main St Loye’s campus on Topsham Road was sold and as such, the former School House site also became surplus to requirements. The Foundation has relocated into Exeter (Beaufort House) and continues to provide an invaluable service within the area.

For 75 years the St Loye’s Foundation has been helping people with disabilities confront challenges, while training them for meaningful employment and the chance of social and financial independence.

Catherine Baddeley, Planner in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Exeter team said: “St. Loye’s has played an important role in Exeter for a number of years so it is encouraging to see the City Council approving the redevelopment of the former School House which has been standing empty for so long. We’ve been in talks with a number of interested parties and there are positive signs that the site will soon be made use of once again.”

Linden Homes has started work on an exciting new homes development at the adjacent former St Loyes main campus. City Glade will comprise 58 new three and four bedroom homes, as well as an area of open space for local residents to enjoy.
