Commercial property agent Innes England helps Uniform Direct move to Derby

School uniform retailer Uniform Direct is continuing its growth by moving into a retail unit on Babington Lane let by Derby commercial property agent Innes England.

In what is increasingly known as ‘click to brick’, Uniform Direct is successfully taking its online business on to the high streets of a number of towns and cities in the East Midlands and beyond.

The ground floor Derby premises, with direct links to the city’s main retail thoroughfare St Peter’s Street, will be the third shop the business has opened this year – and will support three new jobs.

Owner Harvinder Shanan said moving into Derby was a logical step in the company’s continued expansion. “We were already servicing schools in Derby from other stores and through our online operation, so there was clear demand for a high street presence and Innes England have found the ideal unit for our needs.

Tim Richardson, of Innes England Derby, said he was delighted they had been able to help bring Uniform Direct to the city. “It is always satisfying to be able to help progressive businesses like this make the move from ‘click to brick’, which is good for them as well as giving the high street a real lift.

“Babington Lane is a busy street with the Post Office recently moving there and Uniform Direct joins a number of well-known retailers in the area such as Hunters, Jillian Hart and Reliance Electrical.

“We wish Uniform Direct continued success in growing their business, which will provide an important service for local families.”

The online uniform provider started 15 years ago and opened its first store in Lincoln where it now has its head office and a bigger warehouse to accommodate its rapid growth.

That rapid expansion means Uniform Direct now has five high street stores in Leicester, Grimsby and Gainsborough as well as Lincoln and its new Derby premises.
