Women in Property 2013 Schools' Competition31st October 2013

High standard of entry for the Women in Property 2013 Schools Ecohome Design Competition Judging for the Association of Women in Property (WiP) 2013 Schools Ecohome Design Competition recently took place at the Paintworks in Bristol.

Year 9 students from the four local Bristol schools who entered the competition - St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School, Churchill Academy, Backwell School and Colston School - were invited to design a sustainable four bedroom house, suited to modern day living requirements.

Participants were asked to consider the use of innovative materials, alternative energy sources and had to fit the house into a specially selected building plot, forming part of Paintworks Bristol Phase 3 development.

The panel of six judges included Andrew Cox from the competition sponsor Crest Nicholson; Hilary Vaughan, Peter Evans Partnerhip; Richenda Oldham, Editor of Property News magazine; Ashley Nicholson, Verve Properties Ltd; Rob Delius, Stride Treglown; and landscape architecture student Charlotte Collins who won the WiP National Student Awards.

WiP organisers were impressed by the standard of entry, which everyone agreed was extremely high this year, however the judges were unanimous in their choice of winning entry, which came from St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School. More details to follow in a separate news story.
