Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has bought Stoke House, a former office building in Stoke Poges, near Slough, for nearly £5,800,000, from Legal & General Property (LGP), who were advised by Colliers International.
The 18th Century Grade II listed property, which comes with 5.86 acres of landscaped parkland, currently has over 24,000 sq ft of office space, but has residential planning permission, gained by LGP from South Bucks District Council, for conversion into 27 new homes, ranging from two-bedroom to seven bedroom houses.
Under the scheme, Taylor Wimpey will alter and refurbish Stoke House itself, as well as its coach house, while a vacant 1980s office annex will be demolished and replaced by new buildings to complement the main house.
James Lidgate, Head of Residential at Legal & General Property, said: “Using our team of dedicated sector specialists, the successful planning consent was the result of years of hard work behind the scenes, getting to understand the local social and economic dynamics of the area and liaising carefully with both the Council and residents, to design a scheme that would both complement and support its future direction. For this reason, it was no surprise to us that the scheme received such strong interest from the market, leading to an attractive sale price.”
According to Annabel Haan, Head of Residential Development at Colliers International, competitive bidding for the site resulted in a the property selling for 45 per cent over the asking price.
