Arsenal’s pursuit of a left-winger
Arsenal has reportedly adjusted its transfer strategy after its attempts to sign Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz were unsuccessful. The Premier League champions had been exploring a move for Yildiz as manager Mikel Arteta seeks to enhance the team’s attacking options during the summer transfer window. Arteta’s aim is to strengthen the left side of their attack as the club prepares to compete across multiple fronts.
The Gunners had specifically targeted a new attacker capable of operating on the left wing. Reports indicate that Arsenal made an approach to Juventus regarding a potential deal for Yildiz. This interest aligns with Arsenal’s desire to add further quality and depth in wide areas this summer, with several names reportedly under consideration for the left-sided forward position.
Yildiz, a Turkish international, has been a player of interest for various European clubs and has been linked with several Premier League teams over the past two years. He had a notable season in Turin, finishing with 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, establishing himself as a regular starter for Juventus. In Serie A alone, he recorded 10 goals and six assists, earning the division’s Rising Star award for the best player under 23 years old.
Juventus’ stance on Yildiz
Despite Arsenal’s enquiry, Juventus has maintained a firm position that Yildiz is not for sale. The Serie A club reportedly informed Arsenal unequivocally that the player is unavailable. Juventus views Yildiz as a crucial component of their long-term project and has spent recent months reinforcing their commitment to him. The club has no intention of entertaining any offers for what they consider one of their most valuable assets.

It is understood that Juventus moved swiftly to secure Yildiz’s future by offering an improved long-term contract amidst interest from several major European clubs. Journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated that Yildiz’s departure this summer was never a consideration within Juventus, as he is seen as a key pillar in the club’s future plans. The management had decided to retain him several months prior.
Yildiz signed a new contract with Juventus in February, extending his commitment to the club until the summer of 2030. This agreement reflects the club’s confidence in his talent and his potential to lead the team in the coming years. His continuation with Juventus was assured even after the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Despite not qualifying for the upcoming Champions League after finishing sixth in Serie A, Juventus is expected to sell at least one key player to compensate for the financial shortfall. However, this does not appear to impact their decision regarding Yildiz. When asked about his future last month, Yildiz stated, “I am very happy at this club. We want to repay all the affection shown to us by these fans.”
Yildiz’s international commitments
Yildiz, who is 21 years old, is currently with Turkey’s squad in the United States as they prepare for their World Cup campaign this summer. However, he is reportedly a doubt for Turkey’s opening match against Australia on June 14 due to a calf injury. Turkey is also scheduled to play Paraguay and co-hosts United States in Group D of the tournament.
