Borderlands 4 quickly lost 96% of its player count within two months of launch despite largely positive critic reviews. However, recent updates have transformed the gaming experience for PC players.

Since its launch in Fall 2025, Borderlands 4’s PC performance has significantly improved. Developers have worked diligently to address early concerns, leading to a remarkable enhancement in gameplay.

According to Gearbox, the average frames per second (FPS) has jumped by roughly 20% between Version 1.0.2 and Version 1.5. This improvement is particularly notable for players using minimum specifications, where average framerates have climbed from 37.32 to 52.79 FPS.

For those with high-end systems, such as an RTX 4090, the average framerates have seen an even more impressive increase, rising from 54.96 FPS to 78.43 FPS. These enhancements have made the game much more enjoyable and accessible to a wider range of players.

Developers have also focused on refining the graphics, improving how graphics drivers detect new materials for special effects and weapons. They have reworked the appearance of low-detail meshes, ensuring that players do not notice any changes while exploring the vibrant world of Kairos.
