The new ITV thriller ‘Gone’ premiered on March 8 at 9pm on ITV1, captivating audiences with its intense storyline centered around a missing person investigation. The series features a compelling narrative that unfolds as Sarah Polly goes missing, leading to a gripping search for answers.

In the series, Sarah’s father, Michael Polly, portrayed by David Morrissey, serves as the headmaster of a private school where his daughter Alana Polly, played by Emma Appleton, is a teacher. The plot thickens when Sarah’s body is discovered in woodland near the family home, raising questions and tensions within the community.

According to the pathologist, Sarah was strangled, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation led by detective sergeant Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles. Myles describes her character as “a fascinating character, intuitive, gutsy and doesn’t suffer fools,” highlighting the strong female lead in the series.

The investigation also introduces a talented rugby player at the school, Dylan Sedgwick, whose involvement may further complicate the narrative. As the story unfolds, viewers are drawn into the lives of the characters and the impact of Sarah’s disappearance on their relationships.

David Morrissey emphasizes the show’s thrilling nature, stating, “It’s a proper thriller,” which sets the tone for the suspenseful episodes to come. The series aims to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as they piece together the mystery surrounding Sarah’s fate.

With its engaging plot and strong performances, ‘Gone’ is positioned to become a standout addition to ITV’s lineup. As the investigation progresses, viewers are left to ponder the motives behind the crime and the secrets that may be revealed.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding future episodes and potential plot twists, but the initial reception suggests that ‘Gone’ will continue to capture the attention of its audience.

“That’s just you, isn’t it? Trouble with a capital ‘T’,” remarked Mervin Wilson, a detective in the popular series Death in Paradise, as he confronted his estranged brother, Solomon Clarke. This poignant exchange encapsulates the strained relationship between the two siblings, rooted in a troubled upbringing.

The episode, which aired on March 9, 2026, takes place in Antigua, where Mervin traveled to meet Solomon. However, the reunion quickly turns dark as Mervin finds himself tied to a chair in a remote cabin, having been struck on the head prior to his capture.

As the plot unfolds, viewers learn that Lester Lewis, a key character in the episode, was shot to death, prompting an investigation led by Mervin and his team. The tension escalates as Mervin grapples with the complexities of family loyalty and the demands of his profession.

In a moment of reflection, Mervin questions Solomon’s choices, stating, “Have you never heard the phrase ‘useful idiot’?” This highlights Solomon’s complicity in the crime, although he is not the murderer. The dynamics between the brothers are further complicated by the presence of Cheech McCarthy, Solomon’s associate.

Adding to the intrigue, Sterling Fox makes a return in this episode, bringing additional layers to the storyline. As the investigation progresses, Mervin’s desire to return home becomes increasingly palpable, culminating in his poignant declaration: “I just want to go home.” This sentiment resonates with viewers, emphasizing the emotional weight of the narrative.

As the episode concludes, the audience is left with a sense of unresolved tension, reflecting the ongoing struggles within the Wilson family. The combination of personal conflict and a gripping murder mystery keeps viewers engaged, showcasing the series’ ability to blend drama with humor.

For fans eager to catch up on the latest developments, Death in Paradise is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The series continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of crime-solving and character-driven storytelling.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the future direction of Mervin and Solomon’s relationship, leaving viewers to ponder the implications of their turbulent past.

“We believe this is the best chance to identify the male as this image can be distributed throughout the UK and abroad in our efforts to identify him,” stated Detective Inspector Anthea Ponting, who is leading the investigation into the unidentified man found at Claerwen Reservoir on October 17, 2024.

The body was discovered wearing a wetsuit, with no other clothing or identifiable marks. Authorities estimate that the man had been in the water for up to 12 weeks before being found. He is described as aged between 30 and 60, approximately 6 feet tall, and weighing between 202 and 220 pounds.

Detective Inspector Ponting noted, “It’s really unusual,” referring to the circumstances surrounding the case. The investigation has been ongoing for over 16 months with no significant leads, prompting police to make public appeals and search medical databases and missing persons cases.

The facial reconstruction of the man was created using photographs, a post-mortem report, a forensic dental report, and a CT scan. The wetsuit found with him was sized XL, and he exhibited an unusual dental pattern identified as an open bite.

Despite extensive efforts, including a police search involving a low-flying helicopter and drones, the man’s cause of death remains unconfirmed after an inconclusive post-mortem. Professor Caroline Wilkinson remarked, “Forensic cases are always really sad,” highlighting the emotional weight of such investigations.

She further explained, “If they need our help, it generally means that it’s a difficult case to identify.” The police believe the man may have entered the reservoir in mid-summer 2024, but details remain unconfirmed regarding how he ended up there.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain hopeful that the release of the facial reconstruction will yield new leads in identifying the deceased. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in this ongoing investigation.
