A young starlet captured everyone’s attention at the 2026 Actor Awards on Sunday night (March 1). Teyana Taylor’s daughter, Rue Rose Shumpert, made a charming appearance on the red carpet with her mother, who was up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. Little Rue didn’t just shine due to her adorable looks—she also played the role of her mom’s assistant on the carpet. Dressed in a stylish pink skirt and a blue and white cardigan, with her hair styled in a ponytail, she matched her mother’s elegance, who wore a breathtaking custom gown by Thom Browne.

The 5-year-old was seen striking poses for photos and adjusting the train on her mother’s dress to ensure she appeared flawless for the cameras.

Rue’s brilliance didn’t end there. She performed a song for the cameras while walking the red carpet. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she showcased her vocal talents to the audience.

“I’m Rue Rose, and I’m 5 years old,” she announced while introducing herself. Rue then inquired if she could perform a song, adding, “I’ll be singing a tune from Frozen, but I’ll do it in a different style.”

Teyana Taylor received a nomination for her performance in the film One Battle After Another. In January, the 35-year-old actress took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes for her role in the movie.

Rue Rose’s Charming Appearance

Taylor expressed her gratitude to her second child for being the ultimate companion on the red carpet in an Instagram update on Monday.

“Rue Rose, I’m so grateful you chose me to be your mama. You illuminate every space, lighten every step, and expand every dream. Greater than fashion. Greater than accolades. This moment felt like a legacy,” she expressed in her post. “Sharing this evening with you is a memory I’ll cherish in my heart forever.”

She remarked that Rue “had an amazing time” turning the red carpet “upside down.”

The actress is reveling in her well-earned success, channeling her enthusiasm into her craft and making appearances everywhere at the moment. She credited motherhood last year for inspiring her to concentrate on the passions that truly matter to her.

Alongside Rue, Taylor is also the mother of Iman “Junie” Shumpert Jr., who is 10 years old, a child she shares with her former husband, ex-NBA player Iman Shumpert.
