Changes to Lloyds Bank Cheque Deposit Services
The market is talking about significant changes at Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland. Customers will no longer be able to deposit cheques at Post Office counters, affecting millions of account holders.
This decision follows the bank’s recent announcement of 95 branch closures across its network, further limiting in-person banking options for customers. While cash withdrawals and deposits will still be available at Post Office locations, the removal of cheque deposits marks a notable shift in service.
A spokesperson for Lloyds indicated that the move is based on customer behavior, stating, “Very few customers choose to deposit cheques at the Post Office.” Instead, the bank encourages the use of its mobile application, which allows customers to scan and deposit cheques directly into their accounts. This digital method reportedly provides a more convenient experience, with funds typically available by the next working day.
In addition, Lloyds has introduced a freepost cheque service for customers who prefer mailing their cheques. The app supports deposits of up to £10,000 per cheque or a total of £10,000 per day.
