Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, spouse of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly passed away after suffering severe injuries during the US-Israeli strikes. On Monday, Iran’s state media, Press TV, announced that she had “achieved martyrdom” following the assaults on Iran. Nonetheless, an official statement from Iranian officials is still pending. Who is Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh? She was born into a notable religious family in Mashhad, which is said to be the second-largest city in Iran. Her father, Mohammad Esmaeil Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, was a well-known businessman in the region, while her brother, Hassan Khojaste Bagherzadeh, served as the deputy director at Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB.
Mansoureh Khojaste Bagherzadeh first met Ali Khamenei in 1964 at a private gathering. They tied the knot in 1965, with their wedding sermon reportedly officiated by the respected cleric Mohammad Hadi Milani.

Despite being married to one of the most powerful figures in the Islamic Republic, Mansoureh Khojaste Bagherzadeh maintained a notably low-key public profile. She seldom engaged in official events and largely steered clear of political discussions, focusing instead on her family and her religious duties.

Iran’s Response to the Incident
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, several close relatives of Khamenei were killed in the strikes that began on Saturday morning. The fatalities included Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, as reported by the Fars News Agency on Sunday, which referenced sources linked to the leader’s office.
Zahra Haddad Adel has been identified as the daughter-in-law of Mojtaba Khamenei. Nevertheless, the identities of the other deceased family members remain unverified officially.
Reports from sources referenced by Reuters indicate that Iran’s Defence Minister, Aziz Nasirzadeh, and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour, have allegedly lost their lives in the recent airstrikes.
