Society Café hits the right spot in Bath22nd April 2012

A new concept café has been opened at one of HPH Commercial Properties premises in Kingsmead Square, Bath.

Launched by a pair of award-winning restaurateurs who have travelled and cooked around the world, The Society Café is based in a 1,086 sq ft unit in a Grade II listed building in one of Bath’s bustling hubs in the city centre.

HPH Commercial Property (which owns neighbouring properties in Kingsmead Square) secured a change of use for the property on behalf of business operators, Adrian and Jane Campbell-Howard, for the ground and basement floors of the building, which had previously been a show room and offices. The Campbell-Howards then applied for permission for an additional outdoor seating area.

Lindsay Holdoway, managing director, HPH Commercial Property said, “Kingsmead Square is a destination in its own right with an eclectic mix of independent businesses, retail operations, cafes and restaurants. We are working with both B&NES and the BID to further develop the quality and use of the public realm. The Society Café has helped to add to the vibrancy of the square making it even more inviting to tourists and locals alike. We see this as an extremely positive step, particularly with the expansion of the City of Bath College and the recent planning permission granted to create a number of hotels very close by.”

Adrian and Jane Campbell-Howard were attracted to the Kingsmead Square premises due to its convenient location in the heart of Bath and prominent location amongst a diverse range of other independent businesses.
