Local schoolchildren name new road in Avonmouth industrial development6th June 2012

Local school children have named a key new road in the 640-acre Central Park industrial development at Avonmouth.

Pupils at Severn Beach Primary School chose the name Goldcrest Way for the road, part of a £5m investment in infrastructure and new roads to open up the Park’s 200-acre second phase.

The children, aged between eight and ten, made a special visit to the site with parents and their teacher to unveil road signs bearing the new name.

The Central Park site is being developed and managed for owners Severnside Distribution Land Ltd by Roxhill Developments and work there on a new 50,000 sq ft pallet distribution facility for CHEP UK was recently completed.

Russell Crofts of commercial property agents Knight Frank, which together with GVA are marketing the scheme, said: “The children were invited to come up with a name for the road that leads to the new CHEP unit – and we all think that, with Goldcrest Way, they came up with an absolute winner.”

Teacher Mrs Celia Roberts said: “The children took their role very seriously and, after looking at maps of the area and discussing what road names generally tend to be, decided to consider the wildlife of the area.

“They then researched all the native birds resident to the area and settled on Goldcrest Way as their preferred choice.”
