New board members for Chartered Surveyors Training Trust22nd June 2012

Cheryl Miller

The Chartered Surveyors Training Trust (CSTT) has appointed two new trustees to its board: CSTT trainee David Skinsley and HR manager Cheryl Miller.

Cheryl holds the position of HR manager for Mansell Construction Services, part of the Balfour Beatty Group. David is currently in his final year of his degree as part of his CSTT training programme, working with Kier Group. Cheryl has started her post of CSTT Trustee and David will join officially this month (June 2012).

CSTT is currently supporting approximately 65 students over six years of part-time study in apprenticeship and managed student positions. Supporting young people from deprived areas and those who face a barrier to gaining employment as surveyors, the CSTT provides a route to qualification in the surveying industry regardless of academic, social or financial circumstances. Its programme of support runs from application to qualification, although can be varied depending upon individual employer requirements.

Christina Hirst, chief executive of the CSTT said: “In keeping with our ethos of welcoming diversity, these two new appointments expand our team of Trustees incorporating representatives from different areas and levels of the surveying world. Cheryl’s expertise in HR strengthens the advice we can give to trainees and widens the net in terms of encouraging new employers to get on board. David is in a position to build on his experience as a CSTT trainee, provide direct feedback from other trainees and bring a fresh perspective to the board.”

Cheryl and David join existing board members: Kevin Arnold, partner of Gardiner & Theobald; William Hill, head of Property, Schroders; Neal Pickering, business development and marketing manager, Skanska Building; Antonia Belcher, founding partner, MHBC; Mark Powell, executive director of product development, RICS; Robert French, Martin Associate; Richard Carter, Martin Associates.
