Christie + Co sells public house near Chepstow24th July 2012

Christie + Co's Bristol office has sold the Tan House, a public house in Shire Newton, near Chepstow. The pub was sold closed and in administration, as part of a large disposal on behalf of a corporate client.

The Tan House is a substantial building with period features in a large corner site. Located in Shire Newton, near Chepstow Racecourse, the pub closed approximately a year ago and was once a traditional locals' bar.

This three-storey detached building has extensive trade areas with a split-level main bar and dining area. The property also has a three-bedroom owner's flat above, a large trade car park, trade garden and children’s play area.

The Tan House has been purchased by local resident, Mark Dew, who is a local multi-operator with several business interests in the area.

Nicholas Calfe, who handled the sale from Christie + Co’s Bristol Office, said: “We had a tremendous amount of local interest in this site, principally from developers planning to convert the building for alternative uses.”

The Tan House was sold with an asking price of £225,000 for the freehold interest and formed part of a portfolio of closed or vacant pubs for sale in South Wales.
