The Bristol Office of Christie + Co has sold Culinaria, a popular and long-standing Bristol restaurant.
The former Red Snapper restaurant was transformed into Culinaria eight years ago when Stephen and Judy Markwick bought the property following the sale of their Corn Street site, The Markwicks restaurant. Since 2004, Culinaria has been very successful, operating as a delicatessen and restaurant. It has been trading on limited hours over three days a week, allowing plenty of scope for a new owner entering the business.
The freehold restaurant has been sold to James Wilkins and his fiancée Christine Vayssade, both of whom have 20 years' experience in the restaurant sector. Having worked in London, France, Japan and more recently, Istanbul, this will be their first solely-owned venture. The business will be renamed Wilks Restaurant and will offer creative, accomplished cooking at affordable prices.
Valerie Turner, the Christie + Co Restaurants Negotiator who handled the sale, said: “Culinaria is the second restaurant in Bristol we've sold in the past few months, which demonstrates the improving nature of the restaurant sector. Chandos Road continues to be a desirable location, highlighted by a number of buyers looking for opportunities in the densely populated residential areas of Redland, Clifton and Gloucester Road.
