St Modwen signs up Brantano Footwear for 7,500sq ft in Longton11th September 2012

St Modwen has signed up shoe store Brantano Footwear for the remaining 7,500 sq ft unit at its Phoenix Retail Park in Longton.

The out of town shoe retailer will open for trading at the retail park in September, joining fellow retailers Curry’s PC World, McDonald’s, Pets@Home and Smyths Toys.

Built on the former Phoenix Timber Yard site, Phoenix Retail Park has a prime position fronting the A50 leading to Longton town centre and provides 42,100 sq ft of retail space along with a McDonald’s restaurant and Drive Thru plus parking for 223 cars. The fully let development has generated around 160 jobs.

Karen Staton, Retail Operations Director at Brantano Footwear said: “We are very excited about our new store at Phoenix Retail Park. It forms part of Brantano’s three year expansion strategy, which involves seeking new retail sites to target our growing customer base.

“This latest addition to the portfolio will take the number of stores in the UK up to 147 and will create 15 new jobs in the local area.”

In addition, Marston’s Inns and Taverns has completed a 180-cover pub restaurant on a plot of 0.8 acres adjacent to the retail park. Called The Pepper Mill, the 8,000 sq ft pub has recently opened creating between 50 and 60 additional jobs.

St. Modwen received planning permission for the Phoenix Retail Park development in April last year and commenced construction after securing the initial occupiers.
