Opco sinks its teeth into its first McDonald’s29th October 2012

Opco has started work on the £330,000 construction of a McDonald’s drive thru at Newbridge Gateway in South Wales.

The 12 week project, which is due for completion in December in time for Christmas, will lead to the creation of around 20 new, full and part-time jobs at the restaurant and drive thru. Recruitment for the new positions has already begun.

The project is the first won by opco to build a McDonald’s. Based on this experience opco now hopes to secure more work for the leading restaurant chain.

Opco’s client for the scheme is The Trustees of Llanover Estate.

opco Managing Director Nigel Coulter said: “This will be a high profile very visible project at Newbridge Gateway.

“In all the scheme includes the building of roads, a car park the drive thru lane, external hard and soft landscaping and installation of street and patio furniture, lighting and drainage.

“The project is the first we will deliver for McDonald’s and we’re hopeful that success with this scheme could lead to opco winning more work for and on behalf of the restaurant chain.”

Mr Coulter said opco would be responsible for the foundations and below ground drainage for the modular building plus all incoming services to the site.
