Bath Wonderland takes last unit in Upper Borough Walls, Bath27th November 2012

The Bath-based retail team at Jones Lang LaSalle has just secured a deal for the last vacant unit in Upper Borough Walls, signalling a full letting for the first time in six years.

The deal with Bath Wonderland – the region’s biggest and zaniest collection of bath bombs - has meant the whole street will now be fully occupied in time for Christmas trading.

Of the approximate 20 shops on Upper Borough Walls the last five vacant units have secured new tenants in just 12 months, giving hope to other streets in the vicinity such as The Corridor and Union Passage, that there are more lettings to come.

The latest additions to Upper Borough Walls include Oska, Noa Noa, Bertinet Bakery, The Happy Cupcake and Whole Bagel, who relocated to a larger unit on the street.

These join existing fashion retailers Zucci, Crew Clothing and Gaff, Brad Abrahams opticians and Essensuals.

Mike McElhinney, head of the Bath office, said: “Given the current economic climate it is great to see so many new retailers coming to the region in a relatively short space of time.

“This has undoubtedly been helped by Andrew Cooper’s Street Clean Up scheme where their work to clear graffiti, power-wash pavements and smarten up the public realm has helped to make the area much more desirable.

“With Upper Borough Walls now fully occupied we are expecting a knock on effect for a number of other shops that have been empty for some time to be snapped up over the coming weeks.”
