Jones Lang LaSalle acquires lease on new Cardiff centre for The Prince’s Trust9th January 2013

Youth charity The Prince’s Trust has opened a new centre on Ocean Park in Cardiff, which will provide improved facilities for young people who are struggling to get their lives back on track.

The new centre on Ocean Way, located one mile south east of the city centre, brings together operations from three former offices, including the former Fairbridge centre, now part of The Prince’s Trust, and the former office in Porth. As well as improved office space, totalling circa 6,500 sq ft, the centre has extensive facilities to deliver its programmes under one roof.

Andrew Creighton, Director of Charnwood Estates, landlord and developer of the property, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a high quality tenant for our building. We worked very closely with the Prince’s Trust Cymru to design and build the internal lay-out which has been tailored to suit the charity’s present and future needs.”

Acquiring agent for The Prince’s Trust, Rhydian Morris, Director from Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “My client considered various properties in the Cardiff area and 16A Ocean Way provides the ideal property solution, particularly following the works carried out by Charnwood.”

Henry Best, Director of Jenkins Best, who acted jointly with Savills for Charnwood, said: “Ocean Park continues to attract high quality occupiers, with excellent connectivity and its close proximity to both the city centre and Cardiff Bay”.

Gary Carver of Savills said: “Charnwood’s ability to deliver a bespoke building was a key factor.”

The Prince’s Trust supports 3,800 young people in Wales each year through its programmes. Three in four young people supported by The Trust move into work, education or training. Its range of programmes help young people who are facing issues such as unemployment, homelessness, and mental health. Others may be leaving care, struggling at school or have been in trouble with the law.
