Two of the South West’s major housing providers have completed another major property deal in the South and South West of England.
The deal has seen Knightstone Housing taking ownership and management of 630 homes, previously owned by Spectrum Housing Group, in Somerset and the West of England. Spectrum has taken ownership and management of 310 homes, previously owned by Knightstone, in Dorset and Hampshire.
Confirmation of the stock swap follows a detailed six-week consultation with residents affected by the transfer. Residents whose homes have been transferred will now benefit from closer local management.
This is the third swap this year for Knightstone, which is concentrating its services across nine local authorities in the West of England and Somerset.
Nick Horne, Chief Executive of Knightstone Housing said: “A greater concentration of homes in Somerset and the West of England means we can invest in smarter ways of working in local communities, provide a better local service and develop more homes for people in need.”
Stuart Davies, Neighbourhood Services Director at Spectrum Housing Group said: “This transfer is all about strengthening our role in local communities and providing more effective services in a tighter geography. We know Knightstone, like ourselves, are committed to working with their residents and in that sense this swap was a good strategic fit. I am sure it will be in the best interests of all our residents."
