Grade II listed pub, the Lutterell Arms in Dunster sold by Colliers 8th February 2013

The historic Luttrell Arms in Dunster has been bought by Somerset hotel operators Nigel and Anne Way in a deal brokered by joint agents Colliers International and Savills on behalf of administrators BDO.

The landmark Grade II listed pub is opposite the Yarn Market and offers picture postcard views of Dunster castle and the Somerset countryside.

Stephen Page, hotels director with Colliers International, said the sale meant the 15th Century inn would remain in private hands.

“The Luttrell Arms was marketed at offers above £1m and the fact we received eight bids at an informal tender demonstrates the potential would-be owners saw in this fabulous Somerset inn.”

Experienced operators Nigel and Anne Way, who own The Royal Castle Hotel in Dartmouth and Seven Stars in Totnes will now re-launch the pub, which went into administration in May 2012.

Stephen Page said: “This fine period property has the monopoly location in this honeypot destination town. The Luttrell Arms is that rarely available property, full of character and charm with large four-poster bedrooms, extensive public rooms and gardens overlooking Dunster Castle. It has been serving guests for centuries and will now continue to do so.”

The three- star, 28 room hotel is in a prominent position in the heart of Dunster, an major tourist attraction within the Exmoor National Park.
