Cushman & Wakefield are top of the pops in West Midlands retail sector11th March 2013

A recent survey has revealed that real estate specialists Cushman & Wakefield is the most active retail agent in the West Midlands.

The firm – which last year completed 191 transactions – also finished in top spot nationally, in a survey of deal activity.

Rob Alston, retail partner at Cushman & Wakefield in Birmingham, said that the survey had shown that the firm was continuing to go from strength-to-strength in the retail sector.

“To be named as top retail agent both nationally and in the West Midlands is a great accolade for the firm,” he said.

“We are particularly pleased about the result in the West Midlands, as we have only had an office in Birmingham for the past five years.

“This really is a tribute to the hard work of the team who have worked here since 2008, particularly given the economic backdrop we have been dealing with in that time.”

In the survey, Cushman & Wakefield was also named as fourth most active retail agent in the East Midlands.

Among deals secured last year by the firm’s retail team in the Midlands was a number of lettings for shoe chain Deichmann, Europe’s largest footwear retailer. The firm also completed various lettings at Solihull’s Mell Square, helping the shopping centre to reach almost full occupation.
