Robinswood Farm freehold sold for development19th April 2013

Alder King, acting on behalf of Gloucester City Council, have sold the freehold of Robinswood Farm, a 0.28 acre site with residential planning consent adjacent to Robinswood Hill Country Park in Gloucester.

The property, which has consent for three new build detached dwellings and the conversion of the existing Victorian farmhouse into two flats, has been acquired by New Dawn Homes, a Cheltenham-based property developer.

Phil Pratt, partner at Alder King, said: “This development opportunity attracted significant interest from a number of local house builders due to its location close to the Country Park.

“The City Council’s proposal for a low density residential development on the site and New Dawn’s reputation for high quality schemes that harmonise with their surroundings will help preserve the visual amenity of this attractive part of the city.”

“This idyllic development has views over the Country Park and nature reserves,” said New Dawn director Angela Hughes. “It is difficult to imagine a more peaceful or inspiring place to live.”

Councillor Paul James, the Leader of Gloucester City Council, said the land was surplus to requirements due to changes made in their Ranger service. He emphasised the need for the development to be sympathetic to its surroundings.

The City Council’s Ranger service, which currently operates from the farmhouse will move across to new premises adjacent to the Gloucester Trust for Nature Conservation. The two existing barns on the site will be demolished.
