Ironspray invests £1.5m in purchase of Cwmbran industrial unit from Hempel30th April 2013

Growing Cwmbran company Ironspray has invested £1.5m to purchase and refurbish a 32,000 sq ft Llantarnam Park, Cwmbran industrial unit from Hempel.

Hempel, a world-leading coatings supplier for the decorative, protective, marine, container and yacht markets, is no longer warehousing in South Wales and has sold its Cwmbran warehouse unit and moved into offices on an adjacent site. Hempel was advised in the sale by the Cardiff offices of commercial property agents Knight Frank and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Ironspray manufactures weaving and tufting consumables and components and currently occupies a 12,500 sq ft production facility in Ty-Coch Way, Cwmbran, together with its sister-company Electrospark, which provides contract toolroom services to the aircraft industry.

Jean Skidmore, a director at the Ironspray group, said: “This is a big step up which will almost treble our production capabilities. We have been in Cwmbran since 1981 and were keen to stay in the town and these new facilities will give us a great step forward, and help to secure jobs and attract new orders."

Nick Frowen, managing director of Hempel UK, said: “This is a positive move for both parties, as we each move to space which better suits our future trading patterns. Our new offices will serve as the UK’s Head Quarter and the layout and specification is more aligned to our corporate image and will allow more efficient management of our business activities. The support and advice received during the whole sale process from Neil Francis at Knight Frank was excellent."
