The transformation of the derelict site of a former factory in Bromsgrove into a multi-million pound retail park has begun, say property developers Chase Commercial.
The scheme, which was approved by Bromsgrove District Council, includes two retail units – 25,000 sq ft and 9,000 sq ft - and parking for 161 cars. It will help bring new jobs and investment to the area.
Stratford-upon-Avon based Chase Commercial has a dedicated team of professionals continually seeking to create innovative and high quality property developments such as this.
West Bromwich based Anglo Holt Construction has been appointed as the contractor for the project.
Becky Yates, development manager at Chase Commercial, said leases for the two retail units had already been agreed with DIY chain Homebase and Pets at Home.
“We are delighted to announce that the contractor is now on site at Brook Retail Park. The scheme will mark a major improvement to this area which has been blighted by this empty factory and surrounding land. Engineering firm Barpro closed its Sherwood Road factory several years ago and the 4.2-acre site has since been vacant awaiting development.”
During the site clearance activity, much of the focus was on improving the quality and appearance of the brook. A programme of environmental improvements and landscaping is being carried out.
“From an ecological point of view, there has been a tremendous amount of work done in conjunction with the Environment Agency. The development will transform this prominent location for the benefit of the local community."
The retailers are expected to open for business in spring 2014.
