Summerfield property developers raise £1,250 for homeless people in Somerset10th September 2013

Summerfield property developers raise £1,250 for Taunton Association for the Homeless

A Boules Tournament hosted by commercial and residential property developers Summerfield, was hailed a huge success as over 150 people from businesses throughout Somerset played in support of Taunton Association for the Homeless (TAH).

The event, held at Kings College in Taunton was the third consecutive year of the competition which has raised £1,250 to help TAH tackle homelessness across Somerset.

Ben Trickey of Summerfield said: “This event certainly proved to be the best Boules Tournament we’ve hosted yet and it was brilliant to see so many teams turning out to enjoy the day in the glorious sunshine and all for a great cause. My colleagues and I at Summerfield are so pleased to host events such as this, particularly in support of a local charity again.”

After five rounds of play, the Plate was won by ‘Lloyds Lobbers’ of Lloyds TSB and in contrast the team from Ashfords Solicitors, ‘Ashford Comproperjobbers’ took the Wooden Spoon, with Summerfield just taking victory from Chesterton Humberts to win the Cup.

The entry fees, fines and other generous donations on the day meant that £1,250 was raised for TAH. Justin Roxburgh, Chief Executive of TAH said: “I am delighted that TAH were chosen as the beneficiary for this event and we will be using the money donated to buy new bed frames and mattresses to further improve the quality of our accommodation in Lindley House, the largest of our hostels for single homeless people.”

Local businesses who would like to register their interest in next year’s Boules Tournament are being asked to contact Gill Ellis at Summerfield on 01823 257961 or email gellis@summerfield.co.uk
