South West property developer Devonshire Homes has appointed Steve Russell as its new Managing Director.
Russell previously held the position of Land and Planning Director at the company, as well as Interim Managing Director for two months. He will now officially take on responsibility for the company’s diverse portfolio of construction projects across the region comprising residential and mixed-use developments.
Steve Russell said: “I am delighted to take on this exciting role and I look forward to steering the company to further levels of success over the coming months and years. It has been an extremely challenging time for the industry but we are experiencing increasing levels of activity within the market and I anticipate that this will fuel a strong period of growth for the company.
“Devonshire Homes is embarking on some major residential projects across Devon and Somerset, and I will be looking at expanding our portfolio of high-end properties as well as providing local communities with quality, affordable homes.”
New targets set for 2014 will see the company aim for over 120 property sales, up 45 per cent on this year’s target. Six projects are now in construction and additional new developments are in the pipeline.
Mr Russell has accumulated over 28 years’ experience in the residential house-building industry with positions held at Linden Homes, Thirlstone Homes, Berkeley Group and Rydon Homes prior to joining Devonshire Homes in 2004.
“I look forward to continuing to work with our partners at the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to champion the region’s cause at Government level and to deliver much needed affordable homes within our projects throughout the region.”
To date, Devonshire Homes and the HCA have together secured over £3m funding through the Government’s Get Britain Building scheme to kick-start two of the company’s stalled developments in Devon.
