Three new retailers move into Drake Circus, Plymouth13th November 2013

Drake Circus, PlymouthFashion brand Fat Face has taken a 4,322 sq ft store at the Drake Circus shopping centre in Plymouth, while The Entertainer has opened a 4,400 sq ft unit. Travel agent STA Travel has signed for its first UK shopping centre store. The company has opened a 588 sq ft store which marks an important milestone as it seeks to broaden its reach in the UK beyond its traditional student roots. All three retailers have signed 10 year leases.

Lauren Obbard, Asset Manager for British Land, said: "Drake Circus' strong trading profile makes it an obvious choice and we are pleased to welcome three strong brands to further strengthen and broaden the retail line-up."

Gary Grant, Managing Director for The Entertainer, said: We felt Plymouth and the centre itself offered a strong retail position for our store as it attracts large numbers of family shoppers who are demanding more toy shopping choice on the high street and within shopping centres."

Drake Circus Shopping Centre comprises 66 shops and restaurants and 1,270 car park spaces and has an annual footfall of over 18 million. The scheme is situated in the centre of Plymouth and was the city's first covered shopping centre.

The shopping centre is anchored by M&S, Primark and Next and all three are the largest stores in their group west of Bristol. The fashion offer includes Topshop/Topman, Superdry, H&M, New Look, River Island, and Monsoon.

British Land was represented by Cushman & Wakefield and Smith Young. GCW, Reid Rose Gregory and Robin Calver Chartered Surveyors acted for Fat Face, The Entertainer and STA Travel respectively.
