Development company Ashfield Land has secured the well known chain Jimmy's Restaurants for its new £50 million Regent Circus leisure destination in Swindon.
Jimmy’s Restaurants, operators of World Kitchen and Pan Asian Kitchen, joins other leading restaurants including Nando’s, Prezzo, Ask and Coal Grill & Bar in confirming they will be opening at the development when it is completed next autumn. The Pan Asian Kitchen will offer Swindon diners more than 100 different dishes of Indian, Italian, Mexican and Chinese cuisine.
The company has signed a 25-year lease and will be combining two units to create a restaurant totaling more than 7,000 sq ft. Only two of the eight restaurant units now remain available and the company is in advanced negotiations on one of those.
Ashfield Land managing director Andrew Fisher said: “Interest in the units at the development has accelerated since we started construction work in the summer and it highlights the pent up demand and the strength of the development, which is anchored by Cineworld. It is very satisfying to see the jigsaw almost complete and the transformation of this part of Swindon town centre making very positive progress.”
Jimmy’s Restaurants property director Jeremy Smith said: “Regent Circus has all the right ingredients for a fantastic leisure destination and we are very excited at the prospect of introducing our unique blend of food and fun to the people of Swindon.”
The retail and leisure destination will include a Cineworld six-screen all digital multiplex cinema, a Morrisons superstore and a 450-space car park. Ashfield Land acquired the freehold in 2006 and facilitated Swindon College’s relocation to a new £17 million campus.
