Mather Jamie lets new offices to local Loughborough estate agents Alexanders30th December 2013

Mather Jamie lets new offices to local Loughborough estate agents AlexandersEast Midlands commercial property surveyors Mather Jamie has let new high street premises in Loughborough to residential estate agents Alexanders, who have moved into fully refurbished offices at 43 Churchgate.

Alex Reid of Mather Jamie said: “This is the first time we have been approached to find offices for new estate agents within the town centre since 2007.

“In 2007 we had two clients seeking premises in Loughborough in order set up estate agents, both of which disappeared when the recession hit.

“Recently the East Midlands has seen an improvement in house prices and as this continues into 2014,  it is likely we will see more estate agents having the confidence to launch offices in prominent locations."

According to Mather Jamie, the rapid growth of the housing market is giving estate agents the confidence to return to Loughborough’s high street and will lead to more firms setting up in its surrounding villages,

Figures from the Office of National Statistics shows that record numbers of people have joined the industry over the last year, with 77,000 newly employed in estate agency as a result of improvements in the housing market.

“We are also seeing growing interest in village premises, where agents seek a better market share. Having a village base means they have a better chance of picking the instruction up from buyers and sellers, but it also often offers other benefits such as lower rents,” said Alex Reid.

John Alexander, chairman of Alexanders said: “Having decided to open an office in Loughborough, our search was an urgent one. Alex Reid identified the building as the spot for us on the new inner relief road and was very helpful in concluding the deal with the landlord.”
